GOALKEEPER OF MY DREAM
The picture by Volkov Evgeni
"They ran, jumped, played football, skated, climbed trees, but not enough!" - that was how Lev Yashin explained the high injury rate of football players. His childhood went exactly like this: he constantly played football with the boys in different weather. In winter - hockey, ski jumping from a springboard: "... We got huge bruises, but we learned to keep on our feet and control our bodies.”
He devoted all his free time to the playing with the ball, and at the age of 18 he went to the army. There he was noticed by the coach of the football club "Dynamo", A.I. Chernyshov. In the spring of 1949, he became the third goalkeeper of the main team - he duplicated for Alexei Khomich and Walter Sanay, and in 1953 he became the main goalkeeper.
Then he got the gold at the Olympic Games in Melbourne, then the European Cup. Lev Yashin became a world football star! He was called either "Black Panther" or "Black Spider". Why!?
